There was an amazing interview with Bob Dylan that emerged yesterday via (oddly) the Wall St. Journal. Behind a pay wall. So Bob or his people quickly put the whole damn thing up at his own site. As usual these days it’s hard to tell if the interviewer actually asked him the questions live or sent them via email and the Bobster had a chance to ponder and reply (and revise). Anyway: great reading. And it was inspired by his new “philosophy of song book” (a bestseller) so most of the queries relate to why he picked the tunes and how he listens to music today and what he favors (as well as what he binges on TV, some surprises).
Worth reading all of it, but here are a few eclectic songs he hails by name: The Kinks’ “Waterloo Sunset,” Warren Zevon’s “Splendid Isolation,” Duff McKagan’s “Chip Away,” Creedence’s “It Came Out of the Sky,” and yes, The Andrews Sisters’ “Rum and Coca Cola (Working for the Yankee Dollar).” Then our usual political cartoons. Enjoy, then subscribe, it’s still free.
Greg, Thanks for uploading Dylan's interview with The Wall Street Journal (12.19). Fascinating! Inspires us to look at music (and life) in new and different ways.
