Started new “Ripley” series last night and found it to be one of best shot and most interesting looking series in a long time. Black & White, natch. We love Andrew Scott, who is drawing rapturous praise, but not sure yet if indeed he has a convincing tone for that character. Trailer:
Great to see Johnny Flynn as the other main male character in the series, as we are still indebted to him for his theme song for offbeat cult series “Detectorists.” Here he sings it a few years back:
Meanwhile, was amused by reports of Post Malone tackling a cover of Hank Williams’ “Honky Tonk Blues” (country now hip again, you know why) the other night, at the Ryman, no less. You may laugh if you watch his version and then Hank’s—at the same venue more than 70 years ago….
