Before we get to this week’s cartoons, let us note that maybe the greatest garage rock classic ever, “Wild Thing,” written by Chip Taylor (who has laughed every day to the bank since) was released by the Troggs on this day in 1966. It quickly launched a legion of teen and sub-teen bands and has been famously covered by everyone from Jimi Hendrix and the Runaways to Jeff Beck and Sam Kinison.
Most famous, of course, was Jimi at Monterey, concluding with the guitar burning exorcism.
