Colbert often held this top spot in this newsletter (until he was fired) and was then succeeded by Kimmel (until his long summer vacation) so we will post here his bearded endorsement of Jimmy for an Emmy this week. Of course CBS is still campaigning for Colbert despite showing him the door.
Via Axios: If the move to lend Dolly Parton’s name to the Nashville airport succeeds, it will become the first of the 50 busiest airports in USA to bear the name of a woman.

Republican candidates in Georgia, Maine, and Michigan have been recorded calling for deployment of retired police officers or ICE agents to polling places to make sure undocumented immigrants can’t vote, although it is widely understood that they don’t. Natalie Hausmann of Democracy Docket reported that Rick Jackson, the billionaire Republican nominee for Georgia governor backed by Trump, told a supporter he was confident that outgoing Republican Georgia governor Brian Kemp would deploy the National Guard at polling places.
In Maine, Republican nominee for governor Bobby Charles told the Maine Young Republicans that he will call his friend Tom Homan, Trump’s border advisor, to ask him to send ICE and U.S. Marshals to the polls. And in Michigan, Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers has called for off-duty police officers to go to the polls to intimidate voters: “I mean, they wouldn’t be able to wear their uniforms, but they would, you know, all you got to do is open your jacket and you see the badge on the belt, right?” he said.

From my camera to you: Heron-on-Hudson.

Cartoons nailed it and the music woke me right up this morning. Love that you caught the heron’s reflection.
I agree with you on the Dolly cover. She was softer than that.
