First off, sad news, that Jerry “The Iceman” Butler has died at age 85. Cool, suave guy who had many hits in the early- to mid-60s, starting with “For Your Precious Love,” and my favorite, see below, “Make It Easy on Yourself,” which he co-wrote, and later a hit also for the Walker Brothers. And this amazing fact: "When his solo career slowed down in the '80s, Butler transitioned to politics in his adopted hometown, serving two terms on the Cook County Board of Commissioners before becoming board commissioner in 1994, a post he held until his retirement in 2018."
But perhaps Butler’s finest achievement: co-writing one of the greratest songs of the era with Otis Redding, “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long.” Here’s Otis’s immortal live version at Monterey Pops:
Felonious Bunk: Trump’s new Kennedy Center cabal plans to invite the “January 6 Prisoner Choir” for a show to jam it down the libs’ throats.
I’ve liked most of Errol Morris’s films, and years ago his investigative probes of historic photos for the NY Times, but his upcoming Netflix doc, which seems to allege some sort of CIA involvement with the Manson murders, is probably not my cup of “t” (that’s “t” for tinfoil hat).
If you somehow missed Musk at CPAC:
Feckless Chainsaw Massacre
