Oklahoma Hills is a romanticized indignity to the history of the Native American peoples that were forcibly and brutally relocated in the Trail of Tears-- part of the genocide by America of Indigenous peoples... Tens of thousands of Indigenous peoples (the Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek, and Seminole --those names were deleted from the song!! ...were driven from the American Southeast into what is now Oklahoma under the Indian Removal Act of 1830.Internment Camps: The U.S. military rounded up Indigenous families at gunpoint, forcing them into disease-ridden stockade camps where many died before the journey even began. Then ensued the forced march--Soldiers forced them on foot, in wagons, and on boats for 1,000 to 2,200 miles through harsh weather. Due to malnutrition, exposure, and disease, up to one-fourth of the relocated populations (approximately 4,000 to 5,000 Cherokee alone) died along the route.
Loved the erudite Monty Python video. Great selection of cartoons.
I was fascinated by Van DykevParks and Laurie Anderson when they first appeared on the scene and still listen to their CD albums. Those were the days.
Welcome back to Southern California. I hope the mild weather holds for your premiere. Fabulous cartoons today
Hillbilly Algae is absolutely the best cartoon I've seen about Vance—the very best!
Thanks for Surf’s Up! Such beautiful harmony there
