Cartoons Sunday!
The Vlad and the Beautiful: Today's putdowns, plus Putin watches "Dr. Strangelove" and some much-needed calming from Beethoven and three Ukrainians.
Our weekly feature again spotlights a fool’s Russian, this time with most of the cartoons coming from abroad. Plus: This actually happened….Oliver Stone got Putin to watch Dr. Strangelove. Then: the new West Side Story finally streaming week makes me recall a few years back when my son had a bit role as a gang member in his school’s production, with a kid about four years ahead of him playing Tony—the now famous actor Sebastian Stan (see yearbook photo below). Finally, a little Beethoven to maybe soothe things a bit, played by Ukrainians. The great violinist Nathan Milstein renders one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed, the adagio for Beethoven’s “Spring Sonata.” And then two young Ukrainians. Enjoy, then subscribe, it’s still free.
The adagio for Beethoven’s “Spring Sonata” lit up my entire central nervous system, feeling me into that misty eyed musical ache that is at once overwhelmingly sad and beautiful. Thank you again, Greg. Blessings!
