Shorter post today as we get ready for giant snow storm.
Fun cold open from Colbert show last week:
Axios on Trump’s pick to succeed him—if indeed he doesn’t run again:
“Vance-Rubio is the president’s dream ticket” for 2028 — “and to be clear, that’s Vance on top,” said a Trump adviser whom the president recently asked to share opinions about the top of the ticket.
“But would Trump be happy with a Rubio-Vance ticket? Absolutely,” the source said.

Man Is Fatally Shot at Mar-a-Lago, Secret Service Says
The man was killed early Sunday after an “unauthorized entry” into the secure perimeter at the president’s resort in Florida, the agency said. The president was not at the club at the time.
Probably not that many here familiar with name Willie Colon, who died yesterday at 75, but he was legend, as trombonist and arranger and singer, who energized salsa in the 1970s even before he hooked up with Ruben Blades. Bad Bunny paid tribute to him yesterday. As it happens, I went to Japan with him in 1976. A long story… but he was not called “El Malo” for nothing. We set up a major photo shoot with him in NYC for my Crawdaddy story, with him posing in his new Japan jacket, but….he failed to show. Still, a major figure then and many years since.

Big tribute event in Tulsa (where both the Dylan and Guthrie archives are stored, with museums) on Friday, with an array playing all of Bob’s “Blonde on Blonde,” which turns 60 this spring, when I bought it. They also did a few covers of other Bob tunes. No high quality videos, but here’s Natalie Merchant, who earlier did “Sad-Eyed Lady,” with a terrific rendition of “Ring Them Bells.”
Since we have been posting “protest” songs almost every day, here’s The Staples Singers’ fantastic version of “For What It’s Worth,” circa 1968.
