Nick Offerman’s guest commentary on The Daily Show last night, on farmers.
More Epstein files released. Trump signs bill to end shutdown. But also grabbing attention, this “pocket veto” leading to cruel death in old age. Rest in Peace. Sorry for our loss:
Who? Pete Townshend on Colbert last night. Here is the full interview including parts that did not air:
100 years ago yesterday the most important recording session of the century took place: The first session for Louis Armstrong’s new Hot Five band. In the following three years they would change American music forever—instrumentally, arrangements, Pops’ vocals, and more. Much more from my friend and Satchmo scholar Ricky Ricciardi. Here is one of the three songs recorded on Nov. 12, 1925, in Chicago, with no rehearsal, “Yes I’m in the Barrel.”
Jeff Tweedy on current tour has been playing cover song at each stop to honor local musician/heroes. So in Tulsa this week he naturally picked one by native Oklahoma fella that Jeff has honored in a big way previously (on hit and Grammy- winning album “Mermaid Avenue”), Woody Guthrie. He picked Woody’s “Do Re Mi” which I have never seen that he’s played before:
He also honored another local legend and influential guitarist, J.J. Cale, by playing this fabulous song, but below from J.J. himself, “Wish I Had Not Said That.”

Wonderful interview of Pete Townsend… Though at the end, a little disappointed of his cynicism – “we won’t get fooled again“
