It’s the old Daily Show pair back to back:
ABC extended Jimmy Kimmel’s contract for another year.
Days after Netflix announced a deal to buy Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount took its own offer directly to shareholders in a bid for a hostile takeover. Paramount’s financing partners include Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner’s private equity firm, plus Saudi Arabia’s, Qatar’s and Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth funds.
Then there’s this:
2025 will be world’s second or third-hottest year on record, EU scientists say
Two more lowlights from Trump at the Kennedy Center on Sunday night, via NY Times:
Mr. Trump appeared to wonder from the stage if some in the audience wouldn’t be so effusive. In previewing performances by the country musicians Vince Gill, Garth Brooks and Brooks & Dunn, Mr. Trump told the guests: “They probably don’t like me very much. But all I know is they’re big, right? We want bigness. We don’t care if they like Trump — we want bigness, right?”
“So many people I know in this audience, some good, some bad,” Mr. Trump said midway through the show. “Some I really love and respect. Some I truly hate. But they’re having a good time.”
New piece at The Atlantic this week:
And at The New Yorker:
Jeff Tweedy has reunited with his part-time pre-Wilco band Golden Smog for a few gigs, and here from two nights ago in NYC he does his great song from back then, “Lost Love.”
In these troubled times, it seems apt to recall Leonard Cohen in his final album advising us to “Steer Your Way.”
Found this via Paul Krugman this week, “Emmylou,” and yes they refer to her harmony with Gram Parsons.

From my camera to you, “Alexander Calder at Lincoln Center, NYC,” your thoughts welcomed.

Thanks for the Leonard Cohen!
One my best live concert experiences was seeing him on the New Skin For the Old Ceremony tour. Rather than applauding, my date and gently and quietly kissed between songs.
As I prepare my pre class music for the final week of the semester, his Closing Time is very much in my mind and my heart.
I really enjoy all of your fotos - you have one heck of an eye for it!
"Emmylou" was written (and performed) by the Swedish Band First Aid Kit in about 2012 - YouTube Link: https://youtu.be/PC57z-oDPLs?si=jkknrdTRGTdSzBVj
