Cartoons Tuesday!
Plus, "The Bear" return, Ray Davies turns 80, and awards season arrives for....us?
Greg Mitchell is the author of more than a dozen books (see link) and now writer/director of three award-winning films aired via PBS, including “Atomic Cover-up” and “Memorial Day Massacre” (recently nominated for an Emmy). You can still subscribe to this newsletter for free.
Okay, before we get to this week’s collection of hot cartoon takes, a couple othet bits of business.
First, I’m sure we are all looking forward to the return of “The Bear” this week. They have just decided to drop all ten episodes of the 3rd season when it drops, as the kids say, in a couple of days. Here’s the new trailer.
Then a belated happy 80th birthday to my favorite Brit Invasion guy, Ray Davies. Here’s a link to my popular post recalling our first meeting, for Crawdaddy, almost (ouch) 53 years ago. Let’s hope the well respected man is simply lazing on a sunny afternoon this week. Perhaps with his presciently trans “Lola,” below.
Now, a tip of the hat to….myself? Sunday night the PBS film that I wrote an directed, “Memorial Day Massacre,” won the top for national reporting at the 66th SoCal Journalism Awards in L.A. Also the runner-up prize for exposing disinformation/misinformation. As noted previously, we’ve also received an Emmy Award nod and will learn if we won next month, also in Los Angeles. You can still watch the film via here or read companion oral history.
Finally, on to the cartoons!
