Jimmy’s monologue last night:
Sen. Mark Kelly visited Jimmy to explain why Trump wants to arrest and/or execute him.
Trump pardoned two turkeys yesterday but, this is true, threatened to send them to an El Salvador prison (when he learned they had both white and dark meat?). Getting into the Thanksgiving spirit, he called Illinois Gov. Pritzer a “fat slob.”
Meanwhile, Bloomberg News:
EXCLUSIVE: US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff advised Russia on how to pitch Ukraine plans to Trump, in audio files reviewed by Bloomberg
And this morning from CNN:
Woman with family ties to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt arrested by ICE
Very much looking forward to this widely-hailed film coming next month, “The Voice of Hind Rajab,” based on shocking incident, and with voice of the actual girl:
Have found much-hyped MJ Lenderman disappointing in the past, but I do like this song he just did on Austin City Limits.
Have always found this piano piece—perhaps my favorite by an American composer—most apt around Thanksgiving. It’s Charles Ives “The Alcotts” played here by Jeremy Denk (who I interviewed some time ago for my Beethoven book). Five minutes of genius, with periodic references to Beethoven’s Fifth.
In a completely different piano direction, was pleased to find this finally posted on You Tube—James Booker’s delightful if devilish “Papa Was a Rascal,” with KKK and CIA warnings intact. Booker was nuts but perhaps the greatest New Orleans piano talent of all, which is saying an awful lot.

Over the hill from our house, dressed not for Thanksgiving but for Mardi Gras.

Lovely birds. Joyce Vance posts her ladies occasionally and they all have personalities. I’ll bet these do too. Glad the turkey survived.
Loved the Ives piece!
