Just a mid-August weekend getaway here, starting with a fantastic cover (that I just discovered from a few years back) of one of my favorite songs, by Gillian Welch, “Everything Is Free,” starring fear-of-Covid-separated Phoebe Bridgers and Courtney Barnett. Then a Gillian and Dave Rawlings, longtime partner one of our finest guitarists, version at Newport this year. And since we are getting the annual Woodstock Festival anniversary right now, here is how good old Uncle Walter Cronkite reported it for CBS.
