Jimmy hits, among other subjects, Trump’s move yesterday to, basically, wreck the future of the planet in rescinding federal rules against gas emissions.
You can’t make this up: RFK, Jr. said in a podcast yesterday he’s not scared of germs because “I used to snort cocaine off of toilet seats.”
Last night, Rep. Jamie Raskin:
I just exercised my right as a Member of Congress to conduct an unannounced oversight visit of the ICE field facility in Baltimore. The staff I met with respected my right to visit, but what I saw was disgraceful. Kristi Noem has a budget of $75 billion she could use to ensure humane conditions, but we saw 60 men packed into a room shoulder-to-shoulder, 24-hours-a-day, with a single toilet in the room and no shower facilities. They sleep like sardines with aluminum foil blankets. Whether it’s for three days or seven days, nobody would want a member of their family warehoused there. The room set aside for dangerous criminals and violent offenders was empty. We’re demanding immediate answers and action.
Amazing probe in Wall St. Journal today re: Kristi Noem and her perks and antics at Homeland Security, includes this gem:
Lewandowski and Noem, who are both married, have publicly denied the reports of the affair, but people said they do little to hide their relationship inside the department."
In one incident, Lewandowski fired a U.S. Coast Guard pilot after Noem’s blanket was left behind on a plane, according to people familiar with the incident….they eventually reinstated the pilot because no one else was available to fly them home.
David Frum comments on the above:
Reading MAGA dump on Noem and Lewandowski is like some bonus chapter of CS Lewis's "Screwtape Letters," in which dozens of other demons join together to try expel a pair of their colleagues as unbearably nasty even for Hell.
Paul Krugman:
So while people inside the MAGA bubble keep insisting that Trump is a great president, the greatest president ever, presidenting like nobody has ever seen before, their cheerleading reeks of desperation. The MAGA implosion is gathering force. Americans are mad as hell, and they won’t be gaslit anymore.
There’s a Los Lobos doc coming, here’s trailer:
Music Picks
As I noted yesterday, every year the Grammy Hall of Fame selects a dozen or more albums or single songs to immortalize. Here’s a story about this year’s list, with ceremonies later this year. We posted four “winners” yesterday, here are three more.
