Speaking of “Chimes,” here is new trailer for upcoming major exhibit at the Bob Dylan Center in Tulsa. I have to make a road trip out there at some point, as the city also houses the Woody Guthrie archives. No museum for Leon Russell, J.J. Cale or Dwight Twilley, I presume, but okay.

Anyone remember when our elders told us to listen to “the still small voice?” They said it was the voice of our conscience.
Then churches got bigger and richer and spoke with louder and louder voices. They told us we were selfish, stupid and corrupt and shouldn’t trust the still small voice because we could be listening to the voice of the devil. They said God wanted us to send them donations “until it hurt” and that God would make sure we got what we deserved.
Government loved that business model! They especially liked the idea that poor people were being punished by God for being lazy, unworthy and not paying enough taxes. We all know, “you get what you pay for” because “life was never supposed to be fair.”
The poor and unproductive were still a real drag on the economy until our leaders realized they could be used for profit in prisons and wars, not to mention entertaining genocides!
If anyone can still hear “that still small voice,” it might be time to ask ourselves, “which voice is the devil’s?”
