Neil, Mavis and Willie (No Last Names Needed) at Farm Aid
A few highlights from Saturday's benefit, plus the latest cartoons.
Greg Mitchell is the author of more than a dozen books including “The Tunnels” and “The Campaign of the Century” and now writer/director of three award-winning films aired via PBS, including “Atomic Cover-up” and “Memorial Day Massacre” (up for an Emmy). Caught all of this live streaming on Saturday, but here are few picks for the many who did not….
As often the case at Farm Aid, Neil closed with one of my all-time favorites, “Powderfinger,” still rocking the black Les Paul.
Mavis Staples brought the gospel and went back for this one.
Stirring version by Willie (still singing okay and playing great) on Tom Waits’ “Last Leaf.”
And Neil reminded us of another great one, forgotten probably by most, “Living Legend,” playing Hank Williams’ old Martin guitar, I believe.
Yeah, I love the killer tone of Neil’s Les Paul with the P-90 pickups. Thanks for sharing.
