Greg Mitchell has authored 14 books and directed four PBS films in recent years. His latest film, “The Atomic Bowl: Football at Ground Zero—and Nuclear Peril Today” has been airing over PBS stations and now streaming for free (key links to watch now and more here). A companion book is available, and you can read more or order here. The New Yorker magazine this week has a piece about the PBS film, which you can read here. And subscribing to this newsletter is still somehow FREE.
Not much time today so just a quickie. Feel some responsibility for the 20% who are still Jimmy-impaired:
Last night’s Colbert (for those now watching Jimmy):
Got this email today from friend and longtime Springsteen producer and manager Jon Landau: “50 years after Time’s first cover about Bruce…here’s the ‘follow up.’ In my opinion, one of the best pieces about Bruce ever. Enjoy.” Of course, I will note that we published the first Bruce cover at Crawdaddy two months before Time’s.
Here is the link for the new one, and image:
A publicist summarizes the political content:
Bruce speaks about how Trump has gotten people to buy into his lies, and how he should be impeached and “consigned to the trash heap of history.” He also comments on Trump’s social media rants about him (“I absolutely couldn’t care less what he thinks about me” he says with a chuckle) and how the Democratic Party needs to find better ways to reach people.
And also just out today, for upcoming release of the Springsteen “Nebraska” package: Bruce doing “Open All Night” in a vacant theater in Red Bank, NJ (where I once saw him with band back in 1975).

Just so good. The Boss sings our past: Plugs, points, shocks, and radial tires, power shifting into the midnight hour.
