“South Park” returned last night with a Halloween special and some new and returning characters, such as Stephen Miller:
The mysterious First Lady;
Don Junior
And Pam Bondi with a mysterious brown spot that kept appearing on her nose:
But who needs cartoons and satire? In real life, via NYT:
Rather than offer steps he might take to bring the crisis to a close, Mr. Trump called attention to the new details of his renovation of a White House bathroom. “Highly polished, Statuary marble!” Mr. Trump declared on social media as he posted images of his new Lincoln bathroom, even as some households planned on handing out canned soup in lieu of candy.
He even claimed Abe would honestly approve and that this was fitting style for “the 1850s.” The gold trash can is a nice touch.
Would like to note the passing of film director Peter Watkins whose “The War Game” in the late 1960s (which I saw in college) not only brought nuclear fears and loathing back to the public consciousness but pioneered docu-drama forms still used today. He directed feature films as well, including an excellent one on Edvard Munch. Here’s an edit of key scenes in “The War Game.”
If you missed yesterday: Social media across the political spectrum took potshots after Charlie Kirk’s widow Erika, in tight leather pants, shared an intimate moment with JD Vance—who had just publicly complained that his wife had refused to change her religion from Hindu to Christian.
“Call me old-fashioned, but this is an extremely inappropriate embrace for a married man to have with a young woman. We are looking at full body contact here — no break at the waist even - and her hand placement is not helping,” complained @Embracing Tara on Twitter.
“In some parts of the world, it is traditional for a widow to wear her mourning leather pants for up to five years,” wrote @EternalDago.
“Most wives would be booting their men out of bed and to the couch for this... but that’s not a great option for Usha either,” snarked Rolling Stone contributor Lauren Windsor.
Erika’s comments also raised some eyebrows: “No one will ever replace my husband. No. But I do see some similarities of my husband in J.D.”
Sad news to read that the great bluesy pianist/singer Marcia Ball has announced she has quit touring due to sudden diagnosis that she is suffering from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Here is one of her earlier televised appearances singing “I’d Rather Go Blind.”

The one of S Miller is chilling but accurate
