Friends and neighbors, asking for a bit of help here. While I appreciate the continuing strong interest from all of you (free) subscribers, it’s harder and harder to reach new readers, thanks to politically-inspired partial suppression of my feeds at Twitter and Facebook—the new reality for many. But you might help attract more readers here if you’d take the trouble to “share” below, or post a link on your other outlets, or recommend to a friend in a good old fashioned email. Thanks again for your support!
A lot of “resistance” action continues to unfold at various public events at the state and local level and in Washington. To cite just one example, below we can see Ben Cohen, co-founder of, yes, Ben & Jerry’s, carried out of a congressional hearing for RFK Jr. Well, at least Bobby instructed folks to not look to him for any “medical advice.” Maybe Ben could get a mocking new ice cream flavor named for Bobby. Can’t think of a clever one just now, maybe you can. Maybe Worms ‘n Nuts?
Not quite the same thing, and thousands of miles, Bruce Springsteen launching a tour again, near where my father was born, in Manchester, UK, last night:
Here’s a full video:
Bruce also took this opportunity to sing, for the first time (we are told) in three decades, one of Dylan’s greatest songs, “Chimes of Freedom.”
While this was happening to a fellow musician:
Lord Buffalo drummer ‘forcibly removed’ from plane
Yamal Said, drummer of the Austin, Texas-based rock band Lord Buffalo, was forcibly removed from a plane and detained by the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol on Monday while en route to the band’s European tour; he has had no contact with his bandmates for two days, according to a social media post from the group. Said is a Mexican citizen but a legal permanent resident of the United States and holder of a green card, according to the post.
One more musical treat, since we now have an Augustinian pope: a little-heard alternate version of Dylan recording his “I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine” back in 1968.
