The Bear Goes to 'Nebraska'
Jeremy Allen White now says he will try to sing Springsteen in upcoming "Nebraska" movie, but for now here are ace covers by Johnny Cash, Chrissie Hynde, Jason Isbell, Emmylou, Steve Earle.
Greg Mitchell is the author of more than a dozen books including “The Tunnels” and “The Campaign of the Century” (see link) and now writer/director of three award-winning films aired via PBS, including “Atomic Cover-up” and “Memorial Day Massacre” (recently nominated for an Emmy). News broke awhile back (and soon forgotten by yours truly) that a major movie was to be made out of Bruce Springsteen’s struggles to record his nearly one-man “Nebraska” album, a quiet lp considered deeply influential by other artists. Now it is back in the media this week as Jeremy Allen White talks about it during his promotion of the new season of “The Bear.” He’s now vowing to do his own singing for it. Biggest moment in “Chef” vocals since Isaac Hayes on “South Park”!
Anyway, this inspires me to simply pull together a few cover versions of some of the songs, so here goes, and cartoons at end. (Bonus: Trump vocal impersonator Sarah Cooper is back with the lunatic’s take on boating and sharks.) You can still subscribe to this newsletter free always (for now).

Yes, The Band’s version of “Atlantic City” is classic but you may have heard it 100 times, so here from my man, Jason Isbell.
