My award-winning film “The Atomic Bowl” started streaming on PBS.org and PBS apps last month and via Vimeo (you can easily watch it via links here), plus it is airing over many PBS stations. Well, there’s hope.

If you missed the big music news yesterday, The Beatles (and estates of Lennon and Harrison) are bringing out a 4th installment of their “Anthology” series tied to a new TV special in November. Not only that, but the first three editions will all be available in remastered version—at a hefty price for some new knob spinning, of course.
“Anthology 4” will conclude with the latest/final/recreated Beatles song, “Now and Then,” after selections such as: “I Saw Her Standing There (Take 2),” “I’ve Just Seen A Face (Take 3),” “In My Life (Take 1”), “Strawberry Fields Forever (Take 26),” “She’s Leaving Home (Take 1 – instrumental),” “I Am The Walrus (Take 19 – strings, brass, clarinet overdub),” “(You're So Square) Baby I Don't Care (studio jam),” “You Never Give Me Your Money (Take 36),” “Something (Take 39 – instrumental – strings only).”
Here’s the new “trailer” and below that the re-mastered version of “Free As a Bird” that they posted online yesterday.
Meanwhile, Nick Drake’s people found and posted the original Volkswagen ad for “Pink Moon” that helped enlarge his then tiny cult, way back when.
And happy 84th birthday (one day late) to Jackie DeShannon. Here below she is found at a very early gig in L.A. area, 1963, with “House of the Rising Son,” backed by a 16-year-old guitar prodigy named... Ryland Cooder.

Thanks for featuring Jackie deShannnon. She’s so underrated! Singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer- most people only know her though Put A Little Love in Your Heart. That’s a fine song, but barely scratches her repertoire and capacity.
I particularly recommend her 1970 album To Be Free, but really, I don’t think she ever made a bad album.
Good music. The Ash grove recording is great. Good cartoons.
