One of the giants of our time and author of books on (to name just a few) Nazi doctors, Hiroshima survivors and nuclearism in America, Vietnam veterans and the war on terror, and the death penalty.
I’m so sorry for your loss. We have so few people who are in our lives that make such an important difference to it for so long. Hold your memories close.
I am also very sorry for your loss and for his family’s loss as well. I hope you can be comforted by your memories and feel blessed for having had such a wonderful, brave, peace-loving friend in your life. We should all be so fortunate.
Thank you for this. Lifton’s book “The Nazi Doctors” inspired to do a deep dive into the T-4 Euthanasia program, which included a visit to the T-4 center at Hadamar which in now a memorial and museum to the victims of that program. It also led me to look at the American geneticists that provided inspiration to the Nazis. He was a historian and a prophet. I was unaware of the letter which you quoted to the Times. That was a profound statement.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend and mentor
My condolences, Greg. He sounds like a lifelong advocate for peace, and I’m grateful for his influence on your work.
Greg,
Thank you for this.
