Trump Fires Away--Democracy in Peril
Cartoonists raise alarms. Plus: Marianne Faithfull and a Gram full of "Wild Horses."
Greg Mitchell is the author of more than a dozen books (see link) and now writer/director of three award-winning films aired via PBS, including “Atomic Cover-up” and “Memorial Day Massacre” which are still up at PBS.org. Watch trailer for my acclaimed 2025 film “The Atomic Bowl.” Before all that, he was a longtime editor of the legendary Crawdaddy. At Blue Sky and Twitter both as @gregmitch. Back again with more hot takes on the latest crisis from Trump World, with a scent of Musk. Since the Inauguration of King Donald II, I have increased the frequency of posting here to about 5x a week. Also, in this period, this newsletter has seen its biggest surge of subscribers maybe ever. I don’t know if that is connected to more posting, or more anger and fear, or perhaps another factor. In any case, I am asking if you like the more frequent Resistance posting or maybe it should be “less is more” in today’s busy times with a dozen or dozens of other newsletters occupying your email box. I offered a full tribute to Marianne Faithfull a few days back but did not mention the claim that she inspired Mick to write “Wild Horses” in 1969 when, coming out of a health scare of OD, she awoke and allegedly said, “wild horses couldn’t drag me away.” In any case, great song, but did you know that Gram Parsons recorded it with the Burritos as a gift from Keith and they released it before the classic Stones’ version? It long was claimed (now debunked) that Gram may have written the song himself, since he was so tight and druggy with Keith at the time and we know the Stones were influenced by Gram’s countryish songs.

Cartoons Saturday!
Barry Blitt:
We need to keep sounding the alarms, supporting each other in resistance, and sharing ideas of how to effectively push back. Keep it up. Both your written opinions and your support of a full and loving view of life's possibilities through the music you post are vital. I really appreciate you and your work.
