Greg Mitchell is the author of more than a dozen books (see link) and now writer/director of three award-winning films aired via PBS, including “Atomic Cover-up” and “Memorial Day Massacre” which are still up at PBS.org. Before all that, he was a longtime editor of the legendary Crawdaddy. You can still subscribe to this newsletter for free.
This week’s political potshots below, but let’s kick off with the first photos of wee Timothee Chalamet as young Bob Dylan still filming upcoming bio-pic have appeared, here as ragamuffin—Joan Baez’s “unwashed phenomenon”— just arriving in the big city. Yes, Bob did favor such a cap.
Meanwhile, we started streaming one of our current faves, Glen Hansard, in his live show last night at City Winery in NYC (you can still get it via Veeps if you act fast). Eventually Rachel Zegler (Maria in the recent “West Side Story” flick) joined him along with—possibly three or four sheets to the wind—watch Bob Odenkirk. They encored with the unlikely Velvets’ S & M classic “Venus in Furs.” Don’t have that one on tape, but here he does his favorite “When Your Mind’s Made Up” acoustic from “Once” and his later “Winning Streak,” with band. Enjoy, then subscribe please, it’s still free.
