You Make Everything...Groovy....
R.I.P. "Wild Thing" writer Chip Taylor, Plus: Election and polling losses for Trump, our usual cartoons, Dylan and that man in the long black coat, Rosanne donates a "Mother" of a guitar.

Jimmy last night:
Trump hitting a new low approval at Reuters/Ipsos: 36% approve, 62% disapprove. Trump's approval with men, once sky high, is down to 37%, about the same as women (35%). Approval rating on the economy has sunk to 29%, lower than Biden’s worst.
So, no shock but fun:
Florida Democrats Win Special Election in Mar-a-Lago’s District
Emily Gregory’s victory brought the Democratic surge to President Trump’s backyard, Palm Beach, just weeks after her party won the mayor’s race in Boca Raton, 30 miles south.
Also no surprise, from HUFF POST: “Pete Hegseth’s pastor and close spiritual advisor says he wants Texas Democratic state Rep. James Talarico to die. ‘We want him crucified with Christ,’ Brooks Potteiger said of Talarico, as the podcast host said he prays ‘that God kills him.’”
Heather Cox Richardson:
Trump yesterday sent in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to fourteen airports in eleven cities. While CNN’s Brian Stelter speculated that Trump got the idea for putting ICE agents in the airports from “Linda from Arizona,” who called in to “The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show” last Friday, Trump ally Steve Bannon suggested on his podcast War Room yesterday that “[w]e can use this as a test run, as a test case, to really perfect ICE’s involvement in the 2026 midterms.”
Jacob Knutson of Democracy Docket noted that Trump’s deployment of ICE agents to airports showed both that he sees them as his own personal law enforcement agents and that he is willing to deploy them in situations that are not related to their actual job description.

Music Picks
Chip Taylor has died at 86. Among other songs he wrote perhaps the greatest garage band rock ‘n roll song of all-time: “Wild Thing.” Every electric guitarist in the entire world has probably played it! No small thing! And in a different vein, “Angel of the Morning.” We could post eighteen great covers of “Wild Thing” below—so many legends did it—and there was even a double-sided hit back in 1968 by a fake Bobby Kennedy and fake Everett Dirksen. But we’ll stick with one, for now: Jimi’s at Monterey.
Fantastic performance by Bob last night in Minnesota of one of my favorite Dylan tunes, “Man in the Long Black Coat,” he seems to have his vocals back. I’ve cued it up to the song but you can also listen to the entire set.
Patti Smith’s recent live version:
The Country Music Hall of Fame has just posted video about Rosanne Cash donating Maybelle Carter’s famous Martin….

Thank you for always giving us something to look forward to in these insane days.
Greg, You're not kidding: The magic economy of Dylan's band really allows Bob's voice to come to the fore. And, following "Man In the Long Black Coat", in the same way, with the "All Along the Watchtower" is collective genius. What a pleasant listen.
