YOUR Playlist Here
Send me a favorite, or unusual, tune and I may post it to everyone tomorrow.
Greg Mitchell is the author of a dozen books and now writer/director of award-winning films. He was the longtime executive editor of the legendary Crawdaddy. His newsletter remains free when you subscribe. His film “Atomic Cover-up” became free via Kanopy this month and the current “Memorial Day Massacre: Workers Die, Film Buried" remains free on the PBS site. Both have companion books.
Okay, trying another experiment here, following my recent (and possibly recurring) Ask-Greg-Anything.
This past weekend I drove with my spouse to her homeland of Ohio. We used to almost always fly in to Pittsburgh but have been motoring there since Covid arrived. I made a new playlist which, with Audible selections mixed in, more than got us there and back. Which made me wonder.
I post songs (usually via YouTube) here all the time, sometimes one, other times a dozen or more. It’s usually just what I like, or it relates to a new release or tour by a favorite performer, past or present (or, ahem, the death of same). Probably most of you like most of them, as people keep subscribing and, perhaps more revealing, few seem to un-subscribe. But what type of music (or individual or band) do you really love?
Here’s your chance to show me, and maybe all of us, where you are at. In the comments section here (or to my email if you happen to have it), send me a link to ONE song. It doesn’t have to be your all-time favorite. It could be something you simply find odd but fantastic, something you are obsessed with, or maybe just came across. I will pick a dozen to post tomorrow (presuming I get that number or more as candidates) and send to all subscribers, crediting you, unless you state that you’d like to be anonymous. Don’t be afraid to…surprise me.
To get you started, here is just one from my weekend playlist. And a few political cartoons related to the current Mideast tragedy. Subscribing: still free.
Thanks for all the quick replies and comments/dialogue. Keep them coming--I can see that I will have to collect and post maybe all week, not one day!
Not sure how to link here but Bonnie Raitt and John Prine “Angel from Montgomery “. Worth it
