Near the end, I used to collect him off the streets of Soho and feed him at my loft at 124 W Houston St. And make him take a bath. Then he would be off, until he was off for good. So, so desperately sad.
Great choices Greg, some I hadn’t had the pleasure seeing before, thank you. I knew Phil a bit thru my Dad working with him when I was youngster, such talent in lyrics, melodies and wit. Btw, do you remember Patricia Mary Morris who worked for you at Crawdaddy? Crazy twist of fate had us become friends, and we both talk about and listen to Ochs regularly.
Thanks for this. There was a young woman named Pat Morris who wrote a major piece for us on the Troubles in Ireland around 1973, then she (I think) went back to Europe or some such, met her again briefly a little later, and then not again, so she wrote just the one piece for us, as I recall.....
Yep that’s the one! Pat and my birth Mom were in the same Crittenton home in Newark in ‘66, my birth mom was forced to put me up for adoption (and I truly hit the lottery with Dick and Arlene); 44 years later Pat reached to my birth mom bc laws had changed and said “Let’s go find our sons together”. And so they did, and I subsequently became very close with Pat who is still a writer. I sent her your post bc of our mutual appreciation of Phil and she blurted out the past paths crossing with you/Crawdaddy. Small world!

Melanie's version of Chords of Fame was earlier and better.
