Thanks for spotlighting the Kinks, even in cool cover versions. Such an underrated band! I mean really. How can you not love a band that rhymes vernacular and Dracula in their lyrics?
Being a Nam vet, and hearing the song 'Sam Stone' for the first time a very long time ago, like so many others, I was so fortunate to be introduced to the music of John Prine. As difficult as it is for me to listen to it 55 years later, I do it to remind myself as to how fortunate I really am. Thank you John Prine, and thank you for posting this song today.
I have loved Mike Lukovich cartoons for over 30 years. I discovered him in the Atlanta newspaper in the mid- 1980s in the Journal Constitution newspaper. I didn’t realize he was still doing his wicked political commentary until I discovered him embedded in your’toons. His were always “cut out and keep on the refrigerator”. I am excited to find him on SubStack
The music you share with us is always fabulous, but today’s music was even more “fabulous-er” than usual. I have loved John Prine for many years, but I had forgotten about his “Sam Stone” song. It brought back memories and tears regarding the Vietnam War era. I also especially loved the music from Preservation Hall. Thank you, as always, for lifting us up at the end of another bad news day.

This is such a great site! Always makes my day.
Love the shout out to Preservation Hall and video featuring my good buddy Clint. You're curating some great stuff and the cartoons as well.

The Lukovich is only a matter of time.
