I grew up a few miles from Willie’s hometown, and first saw him in 1974. I’ve seen him many times since. I can’t believe he’s still recording! Good article, by the way.
Wow, except for hearing his unique voice to know it's him, I would not recognize Willie in the 1962 video. The one with Dylan is gold. I saw Willie at the Circle Star Theater in San Carlos, CA, in 1985. He allowed people to come near the stage to take photos. Afterwards, we were in a group by his tour bus, and he came out to sign programs and kerchiefs. He is legend and a wonder. The "Willie Nelson & Family" 4 part documentary on Paramount+ is a beautiful portrait of the man, I highly recommend it. Thank you, Greg, as always, for great tunes and 'toons!
One of your best posts ever! As fabulous as the music is, the cartoons and commentary are even better. Judge Hannah Dugan is my new heroine. We'll see what happens to her, who after all was arrested only because of her humanity, but it doesn't look good for her or any of the rest of us. After all, if infants with cancer can be deported with no due process, I imagine they are preparing a cell in CECOT for the honorable judge.
Another great one!
Thanks for Willie! Spot on cartoons.
What a wonderful album cover for Willie and what a wonderful song
Brought tears.
Top music, art, and writing—thank you!!
