Someday I'll get around to telling the story of my first meeting with Wenner in RS New York office right after they opened it. The words self-involved flaming asshole spring to mind.

Jann Wenner has been a piece of work since his first days in the Haight, and unlike many others who actually pulled their heads out of their asses, he never has. Thank you for this lovely collection.

And Sister Rosetta was rocking decades earlier, yes? Found a 1947-1948 version of the song – a bit tamer for those time! : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHmiE82Ynkk&ab_channel=MrVm73

White Stripes founder Jack White recorded a few tunes with the legendary Wanda Jackson back in the day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnULGVbhPcY. I'll leave the Nashville based gossip about Jack White for another time. Don't worry - it's basically the usual rock'n roll anti-female b.s.

Mr. Mitchell and all the cancel culture death squad!

I wonder if you have ever read that NYT interview with Mr. Wenner at all! First, it is his book and so he has the right to talk with whomever he wishes to, second, he clearly says that to him, r and r women are, according to his view, somewhat inarticulate in formulating philosophical framework or bedrock of rock 'n' roll, not in performing or creating it!!!

Wenner hasn't been relevant to rock music since 1985, and he's strained to make people believe that no good rock music has happened since. Sad that he got nearly 40 years to ruin *all* our prospects before he hit the idpol landmine. Good riddance to a major figure in the Nostalgia Industrial Complex.

Thank you for correcting the record. Jann Wenner is a blowhard. For me, Ben Fong Torres will always be the heart of Rolling Stone.

What a dumb thing to say! The whole concept of a rock n roll hall of fame is kind of absurd anyway. Love your music links all the time!
