Bruce put a little love of the pioneering singer-songwriter in his first famous song.
"Jangly and one of the greatest rock songs ever" (your comment on "When You Walk in the Room") . I see Bruce is playing a 12 string in the Spectrum clip. Also, love Jackie's connection to Bruce and Dylan and her "crazy" reaction to Bob's second set at Town Hall in '63.
Thank you so much for this piece. She was one of my favs in my teens.
Ah, Bradley Beach... I grew up in NJ, and couldn't wait for the summer to go to the "shore." Wish I could have been sitting in that rental with Bruce and you! Thanks again, Greg.
I lived those years young but how else very intensely. I’d fallen in love as only a 14 year old could with my older brother’s best friend. The closest we got was him messing my hair up going by.
When Jackie’s song played - at a dance or on Air Force Radio - I knew that was me.
Today’s column turned my day around! Thanks so much!
Great column, Greg. Both entertaining and educational.
