Concluding another excerpt from my memoir-in-progress, this one on chatting with Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., off-Broadway in 1970. Plus a couple of Vonnegut-related tunes from Nick Lowe and Al Stewart.
Re Kurt Vonnegut. Back when we were in East Hampton we were invited to several parties hosted by the painter Syd Solomon and his wife Annie. They knew everyone in the art-literary community. One barbecue we attended was epic. Syd was at the grill and over on a nearby bench were Kurt and Joe Heller, deep in conversation. But there were Wilfred Sheed and Joy Williams and Rust Hills. Much less intimidating to interrupt. I still wonder what they were talking about. I can't wait to read your memoir.

Thanks, Doug. I ended up with 4 letters from Kurt, culminating in a classic "have a nice life" kiss off...
Loved the Vonnegut stories.
