I just finished your film. I cried my way through the Hiroshima memorial museum more than 30 years ago. I taught world history for 35 years and wish I’d had your film.
We are always "on the brink" of nuclear war. Always! So what's new? Even a mistake can cause a nuclear holocaust. And guess what? Everybody wants peace! So Trump and Gabbard's "goals" appear to be utterly bland and nebulous. Much ado about nothing new. I'm sure Putin appreciates them passing on his hollow threats, though!
Thank you for "Atomic Cover-Up." Should be required viewing. Your books encouraged me in writing 90 Seconds to Midnight: A Hiroshima Survivor's Nuclear Odyssey which was just published. At age 13, Setsuko Nakamura (Thurlow) survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Her quest to abolish nuclear weapons and protect the world from an unspeakable fate provides a heartrending, yet uplifting narrative. We all must do our part. Charlotte Jacobs
Trump's assholery on the world stage has encouraged proliferation of nuclear weapons to states that are not even as stable (sorry to use that word here) as the US. He is the biggest threat to the survival of the planet on multiple levels, even if we ignore the mushroom clouds on the horizon.
She’s definitely got an angle, it will be interesting to get a little more info to see what it is. It seems impossible that anyone could keep up with so many lies, retractions, and generally idiotic and mean schemes that keep flying down from the Trump minions.
Considering your films, you should be more uncomfortable about the number of warmongers in Congress, the Government and Mass Media, including the ones taking exception to Tulsi's excerpts from your film. I'm no fan of Tulsi, but if she and Trump wanted to settle the Ukrainian War, the one we provoked and prolonged to serve our own geo-political interests - at the cost of a million plus Ukrainians - then she should be encouraged. Not that hard to make sense of it.
Fortuitously, a young cousin sent me a link to Love's Forever Changes a few days ago, which he just discovered. In the Sixties I had the album you had and listened to both. I was particularly struck to hear Mushroom Clouds again.
LOL. You asked if I had been EATING those mushroom clouds and then Laughed Your Ass Off. That's not a personal attack or name calling?
You can take exception with my explanation (not opinion) of the Ukraine War, but I have the evidence to back up my assertions. Containment policy - which the US abandoned for Rollback - was developed to deal with the implications of Nuclear Weapons. Well-paid think tank professionals have been [badly] gaming out nuclear policies ever since. Hence, Tulsi and Greg Mitchell's videos are as relevant today as Love's lyrics were back then. (I lived through that terror.)
I'm curious if you're aware of the work of Robert Hastings, who is a leading expert on the relationship between UFOs and nuclear weapons. https://www.ufohastings.com/
As best I can tell, UFOs appear able to turn our nukes on and off at will. There is ample evidence that they have an ongoing interest in all of our nuclear facilities, and military operations in general. I find these reports to be credible, and if true, they seem to put the nuclear weapons topic in a whole new light.
I was a UFO buff in the mid-1960s and saw something interesting enough to report to my local air base which ended up at the main federal office Project Blue Book. I even found my file nearly 30 years later at USC archives. However, I have been a UFO doubter since 1970s...
You might want to tune back in Greg. UFO doubt is being systematically demolished on many fronts. I'm finding the following coverage to be thoughtful and intelligent.
I'm bringing this up with you because UFOs may radically transform the nuclear weapons topic. UFO interest in our nuclear facilities is well documented, and there are credible reports of UFOs temporarily taking control of nuclear missile installations. If true, that seems to make all of our nuclear weapons analysis, doctrines etc outdated.
Ignore what they say, just look at the war and think. The idea that it could easily go nuclear is not new, nor is it far-fetched, nor did it require Tulsi Gabbard to inform us. John Mearsheimer, and Stephen Cohen before he died - not to mention common sense - have been making it as clear as a bell for at least a decade. Don’t poke the Russian Bear, or as Vicini put it in the Princess Bride, “Never get involved in a land war in Asia.” Whatever one thinks about Putin, he believes he is protecting Russian national security. Does one believe he won’t use what he feels he has to use to do it?
As for the war itself, it was never the intention of NATO and the U.S. for it to be won, not least by Ukraine. The goal was to use Ukraine to weaken Russia. I don’t have the citations at hand but this was said all but word for word by Biden and his people (of course, not exclusively, the noble words about freedom and democracy were always thrown in for good measure).
This is not Russian propaganda, nor is it necessarily propaganda to hold an opinion which rhymes with one that might benefit a political opponent, in this case Putin, i.e. we need to decrease the risk of nuclear war now. The tedious absurdity of this claim, which is basically guilt by association, has long reminded me of the witch scene from Monty Python & the Holy Grail:
Would this argument have been made about the nuclear freeze movement in the 1980s that we desperately need today?
As for the idea that there are not bunkers for the Big Club that none of us are in, in 2017, Terry Gross hosted a show on so-called Raven Rock, which strongly suggested the contrary. It’s available here, and one can judge for oneself:
Although I.F. Stone said that every government is run by liars and nothing they say should be believed, and although Gabbard is the ugliest liar and opportunist who has taken every side of every issue to advance her career, when she says something true, we need to use it for our own democratic purposes. Nothing should give anyone any confidence that we are the least bit safe from a nuclear holocaust except our own vehement democratic opposition outside the two-party system. We can’t just leave the job anymore only to professional activists like Harvey Wasserman and Helen Caldicott, thankful for them as we are. But the war must end now even if Putin gets what he wants.
Someone recently observed we are being subjected to an assholocaust. More evidence here.
The best way to manage stupid remarks from Tulsi is to ignore anything she says. Even the people of Hawaii detest her for her self-serving attitude!

WOW, these homicidal idiots do Not have a clue
Throwing Nuclear War around like a ping pong ball
The concept is simply unmentionable
Until Now

It worries me that these people are stupid enough to really start something.
Saw this on Morning Joe. They said she posted the video shortly after returning from Russia.

Wow Greg, I can see how your conflicted.
Trying to make sense of anything Cruella says is a mistake.

I used to own that Love album. Can’t find it now.
Used to play the first Love albums all day and all of the night
Arthur Lee and the Lads

I take exception with your opinion about the prolonged Ukraine mess. Nothing more. And I didn’t resort to name calling. ✌️
