Greg, Your report on Bill's passing was beautiful and so sad. Loved your end of story inclusion of Bill's mid-70s political comments mentioning the Allende coup--I'm sure you saw the amazing 1982 movie, Missing, starring Jack Lemmon, & Sissy Spacek--and other tragedies of the 60s and 70s.
In the late 70s, my friend Craig and I went to see Bill play in a Summer exhibition game in the then Seattle Coliseum. Afterwards, Bill signed my Anthony Scaduto Dylan bio. Bill was into it and knew all about Bob. Last summer, my family went to San Diego for a vacation. My son-in-law and I took a pilgrimage to Helix High where we located the gym where Bill played his H.S. hoops and found yearbooks displaying his team's two C.I.F. championships and the trophies won. Bill truly made team basketball play like poetry. He lived his life the same way. Thanks for the link to the obituary. The latter day photo of Bill and Kareem together is devastatingly beautiful.
