Your visits with the past are so amazing. I keep thinking “I remember that!” Or I don’t remember that?” Thank you. And the cartoons are great too.

Thanks for this wonderful history of your time in that era - my era as well. I remember Crawdaddy; it was exciting to have a magazine with my music showcased. Right after our graduation from college in 1969, my co-student and friend Valerie, who had her first job at the newish Rolling Stone magazine on Brannan Street in SF, gave me a tour of her workplace. Wow! It was a raw, rough and tumble group, all fellow hippies, I loved it. She presented me with a bound copy of the magazine, the second year, not the first. I still have it. Thanks again for your detailed account of being the new editor of Crawdaddy! Brought back cool memories.

I wonder if the building now at Broadway and 52nd Street has a Birdland plaque?

I love this post. The history: I remember reading Crawdaddy (before your arrival), and still have copies of Cheetah, Circus, Paper Bag and the San Francisco Oracle that I bought back then.

Great selection of music videos: Little Feat (Roy Estrada on bass), Marvin Gaye, Janis Joplin (love this version), young Neil Young. I like Carol King, but heard that one way too much.

Very good group of cartoons.
